Job Opening: Internal Audit Officer

Job Overview:

The Internal Audit Officer will play a critical role in evaluating the effectiveness and adequacy of Egbin Power Plc.’s internal controls and regulatory compliance. This role is essential to ensuring continuous improvement across all business operations and maintaining high standards of corporate governance.

Key Responsibilities:

As the Internal Audit Officer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting ongoing reviews of operational processes and procedures: You will assess day-to-day operations and look for opportunities to optimize and strengthen existing processes.
  • Evaluating internal controls and compliance: Your role will involve evaluating the internal control systems within Egbin Power and recommending necessary changes for improvements.
  • Corporate governance: A key aspect of your job will be ensuring that Egbin Power Plc. adheres to strong corporate governance practices through continuous audits and reviews.
  • Audit procedures and control testing: You will be responsible for verifying the controls in place across various departments, ensuring they meet company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Data protection and compliance: You will assist in ensuring the company is compliant with relevant data protection laws, including NDPR, and implement best practices to protect sensitive data.
  • Assisting in report preparation: You will work closely with the Audit Team Lead to prepare detailed audit reports that will be presented to management.
  • Continuous improvement: You will help drive improvements in business processes to increase efficiency, customer satisfaction, and compliance with internal policies.
  • Supporting ISO and Integrated Management System (IMS): Your role will also include supporting the establishment and implementation of the IMS, ensuring compliance with standards such as ISO 9001:2015, 14001:2015, and 45001:2018.
  • Risk management: You will assess potential hazards, risks, and environmental aspects associated with various processes, ensuring that risks are properly mitigated.
  • Other duties as assigned: As needed, you will assist with additional responsibilities and contribute to the success of the internal audit department.

Qualifications and Requirements:

To be successful in this role, applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • Educational background: A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field is required.
  • Professional certification: Candidates must have a recognized professional certification, such as CIA, ICAN, ACCA, or a similar qualification.
  • Experience: While 0 to 2 years of relevant work experience is preferred, we are open to considering candidates with different levels of experience who possess the necessary skills and passion for the role.
  • Strong communication skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential, as you will be preparing reports and interacting with various stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail: You must demonstrate a high level of attention to detail, especially when assessing internal controls and financial records.
  • Proficiency in MS Office: You should be proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ethical standards: A strong moral code and a commitment to integrity are essential in maintaining trust and confidentiality.
  • Analytical skills: The role requires strong investigative skills to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance.
