Renewable Energy Grants in Africa

Applications are now open for the 2025 Renewable Energy Grants in Africa (PREO) program, offering grants of up to EUR 300,000 to support the implementation of Productive Uses of Renewable Energy (PURE) in sub-Saharan Africa.

This initiative aims to foster innovative renewable energy solutions that drive local economic growth, align with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and empower communities.

What is PREO?

PREO, a transformative program, champions the productive use of renewable energy in sub-Saharan Africa and the Pacific Island Countries. By focusing on PURE, the program promotes sustainable economic development, accelerates global progress toward SDG7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG13 (Climate Action), and contributes to a fair global clean energy transition.

The program is designed to bolster investment and foster innovative business models that can harness renewable energy for practical, everyday use.

From solar-powered water pumps for irrigation to electric mobility solutions for taxi drivers, PREO is committed to creating impactful and scalable solutions that meet the needs of local communities.
