The History of Federal University, Lokoja
The Federal University Lokoja was established along with eight (8) new Federal universities on the 16th February, 2011 following a pronouncement by former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. Soon afterward, a Vice-Chancellor and Registrar in the persons of Professor Abdulmumini Hassan Rafindadi and Mrs. Habiba Anavoza Adeiza were appointed. The current Vice-Chancellor is Professor Olayemi Akinwumi since 15th February, 2021 while the current Registrar is Dr [Mrs] Rebecca Aimiohu Okojie. The University is located in Lokoja, the Capital city of Kogi State of Nigeria, in the North Central political zone.
Why courses are approved and unapproved for Federal University Lokoja
The courses offered at Federal University, Lokoja were approved by the Federal Ministry of Education, with structure and modality the school management board had put in place to promote quality learning.

- Because of the poor post utme score obtained by candidates.
- Because of the rate at which candidates scored above others in the post utme exams, the candidates with lesser scores are usually screened to offer few optional courses.
- Poor performance in school can also lead to a change of course (department).
