The Nigerian Women Association of Georgia (NWAG), a U.S.-based organization dedicated to empowering Nigerian women and promoting education, is excited to announce its 2025 scholarship program. This initiative is designed to provide financial assistance and recognition to female undergraduates studying in Nigerian universities, helping them achieve their academic goals.

Key Benefits of the NWAG Scholarship Program
- Financial Assistance: Selected recipients will receive awards of $300, with first and second runners-up awarded $150 and $100, respectively.
- Recognition: Scholars will be celebrated for their academic excellence and dedication to their education.
- Empowerment: The program aims to reduce financial barriers, enabling female students to focus on their studies and future aspirations.
Eligibility Criteria
- To qualify for the NWAG Scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be a Nigerian citizen.
- Be a female undergraduate enrolled in a Nigerian university (final-year students are not eligible).
- Demonstrate proficiency in English.
- Provide proof of state of origin.

Application Requirements
Applicants must submit the following documents:
- Proof of state of origin (e.g., a letter of origination from the university or local government office).
- Two recommendation letters from any of the following:
I. Pastor or Imam
ii. Village Head
iii. Local Government Chairperson
iv. University Lecturer or Head of Department
- One additional recommendation letter from the Dean of the Faculty or Head of Department.
- A photocopy of the current university student ID.
- A recent photograph of the applicant.
- A brief statement (not exceeding half a page) explaining the need for the scholarship and why the applicant deserves it.
- A typed, double-spaced, two-page essay on the topic:
“The alarming exodus of professionals leaving Nigeria for better opportunities: Causes, solutions, and the impact of the ‘Japa Syndrome’ on Nigeria’s education system.”
Application Deadline
All applications must be submitted by April 30, 2025.
