The Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF) is transforming Africa’s entrepreneurial landscape with an unwavering commitment of $100 million over 10 years. The goal? To empower 10,000 African entrepreneurs by 2025 through world-class training, mentorship, and financial support.

Applications are now open for the 2025 Tony Elumelu Foundation BeGreen Africa Entrepreneurship Program, a flagship initiative designed to support green and sustainable business ideas.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the program, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  1. Age & Residency
    • Must be aged 18 years or older.
    • Must be a resident of one of the eligible African countries.
  2. Business Focus
    • Applicants must present a green business idea or an existing business with a focus on sustainability.
    • The business must be for-profit and based on an original idea.
  3. Ethical Standards
    • Business ideas must not involve illegal or unethical practices.
  4. Identification
    • Applicants must provide a valid government-approved ID.

Program Stages

  1. Verification & Onboarding
    Applicants will undergo a verification process to confirm their eligibility and business authenticity. Those meeting the criteria will proceed to the TEF Business Management Training Program, while others may be directed to general training resources on TEFConnect for future opportunities.
  2. Business Plan Submission
    After completing the training, participants will develop and submit a business plan. Plans will be evaluated based on feasibility, innovation, and sustainability. High-scoring participants will move on to the next stage.
  3. Pitching Competition
    Participants who advance will pitch their business plans to a panel of judges. Successful candidates will be selected to receive seed capital, while others will continue to be recognized as TEF Trainees.
  4. Seed Capital Disbursement
    Entrepreneurs selected from the pitching stage will receive up to $5,000 in seed capital, transferred directly to their business accounts. Additional funding from TEF partners may also be available for eligible participants.
