Yobe State Government 2025 Scholarship Initiative for Nigerian Students 

The Yobe State Government has launched its annual scholarship program to support Indigenous students in pursuing higher education. This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to empowering its citizens through educational opportunities. Known for its consistent dedication to scholarship programs, the state allocates funds annually through the Ministry of Education to ensure the success of this scheme.

In a recent development, His Excellency Governor Mai Mala Buni approved ₦800 million to provide scholarships for 316 indigenes. These scholarships will enable students to study in specialized fields such as medicine, engineering, and the arts at selected institutions abroad. This effort shows the government’s goal of equipping students with the skills needed to contribute to the state’s development.

Benefits of the Yobe State Government Undergraduate Scholarship 
  • For Local Students: Tuition fees will be fully sponsored by the state government. Additionally, beneficiaries will receive an annual stipend for upkeep.
  • For International Students: The scholarship covers all expenses, including admission processing, travel documentation, and tuition fees for studies abroad.

 Eligibility Criteria 

  • Applicants must be bona fide indigenes of Yobe State.
  • Candidates must have completed secondary education and possess a Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) from WAEC or NECO, with at least five credits, including Mathematics and English.
  • Applicants must provide up-to-date documentation, which will be verified during the application process.
  • For local studies, students must be enrolled in an accredited Nigerian institution, while for overseas studies, applicants must have secured admission to an eligible foreign institution and possess an offer letter.

Required Application Documents 

  • Yobe State Indigene Certificate (obtainable from the local government secretariat).
  • Birth Certificate or Age Declaration.
  • JAMB Admission Letter.
  • School Admission Letter.
  • Valid identification (School ID card, Driver’s License, National Identity Card, or NIN).
  • SSCE results (WAEC or NECO).
  • Academic transcripts (for returning students; exempted for fresh students).

Application Deadline 

While no specific deadline has been announced, the application window typically opens annually for a period of 3 to 4 weeks. Updates regarding the application timeline will be communicated through the scholarship website and other official channels, including notice boards at educational institutions.
