Managed by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), this scholarship program supports African students pursuing undergraduate, postgraduate, and higher education in various fields. Established in 1950 by Maulana Abul-Kalam Azad, India’s first Education Minister, ICCR aims to strengthen India’s cultural ties globally through educational and cultural initiatives.

A. Monthly Stipend:Â
- Undergraduate: Rs. 5,500
- Postgraduate: Rs. 6,000
- Phil/Ph.D.: Rs. 7,000
- Postdoctoral Fellow: Rs. 7,500
B. Monthly House Rent Allowance:Â
Grade 1 cities: Rs. 5,000
Other cities: Rs. 4,500
 C. Annual Contingent Grant:Â
- Undergraduate: Rs. 5,000
- Postgraduate: Rs. 7,000
- Phil/Ph.D. and M.Tech./ME: Rs. 12,500
- Postdoctoral Studies: Rs. 15,500
 D. Tuition Fees: Covered in full (excluding refundable amounts).
 E. Thesis/Dissertation Expenses:
- D.: Rs. 10,000
- BBA/BCA/MBA/MCA/M.Tech and similar courses: Rs. 7,000
 F. Medical Benefits: Scholars must use designated medical facilities affiliated with their institutions.

 Duration: The scholarship covers the entire duration of the chosen course.
Eligibility and RequirementsÂ
- Doctoral/postdoctoral applicants must submit a research synopsis.
- Performing arts applicants are encouraged to include video/audio recordings of their performances.
- Proficiency in English is mandatory.
- Priority is given to students who have not previously studied in India.
- MBBS/MD, Dentistry, or Nursing program applications are not accepted.
- Admission to Indian universities is subject to their independent eligibility criteria. Scholarship confirmation occurs only after admission is secured.
- Applicants must obtain the correct visa; failure to do so may result in deportation if admission is not finalized.
- Scholars are advised to carry some funds for initial expenses upon arrival in India.
- Original academic documents must be presented for verification during admission.
Required Application DocumentsÂ
- Recent passport-sized photo (3.5×4.5 cm, white background, no glasses).
- Copies of academic certificates, mark sheets, and school-leaving exam results.
- Physical fitness certificate.
- Recommendation/character certificates from current or previous institutions.
- Certified copies of the passport (showing photo, name, contact details, issue/expiry dates, and place of issue).
- Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) in school-leaving exams are mandatory for engineering courses.
